As much as I love to cook, I also love to eat out! LOL..Some days, I just want to let someone else do the cooking and cleanup so that I can relax and chat with my daughter or my hubby, or one of my BFF’s.
Last Friday night, we got busy running errands in the afternoon and before we knew it, dinner time was upon us and our tummy’s were growling. We decided to dip into one of the local spots here in Desert Hills/Cave Creek area – Heart & Soul Cafe, a restaurant we’ve eaten at before and liked, but forgot about for some reason – oh, busy lives do crazy things to people.
Heart and Soul has just what the name claims. When you walk in, you are met with a cute dining room, with kitschy pieces from the 50’s mixed with southwest decor, but the highlight is the ’57 Chevy dining booth in the middle of the dining room – totally cute. Next door, through the saloon doors is the bar where every Friday night, they have a Fish Fry, a live band and Karaoke. The bar, band, and fish-fry were in full swing when we arrived and the dining room was hoppin’!
The menu offers up stick-to-your ribs home cooked food like Chicken Pot Pie, Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, but then also offers up delicious light salads. That night both my husband and I were dieting so I opted for the Strawberry Salad with grilled Chicken and he had the warm Veggie Salad with Chicken. Both were delicious.
The service was prompt, courteous with lots of smiling faces on not only the servers, but the customers as well. Menu items are reasonably priced, so with all blocks checked, Heart & Soul is a keeper in my book.
I’ll be back.
